A poem that I hate.

As I lay there one morning,

Laying in my double bed.

My thoughts were caged,

Like a jail inside my head.

And Down to my left side

I heard my phone begin to ring.

On top of the black and brown rug,

It was the goo goo dolls theme.

“And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am.”

But all the books and devices

Began to raise hell,

And they spoke with so much wisdom,

“This drug you cannot quell.”

Lurking in our nightmares

Where the truth seems so wrong,

Distractions watch with evil glares

And wait for the right position.

In arguments and quarrels

Slowly the love trickles away.

And the distractions will have their means

Tomorrow or today.

Into many green fields

Drifts the slaughtering snow

Distractions quell the desire

And lovers brilliant glow.
